DESCRIPTION: APW – Waltham, Premier Maximus with winding indicator, 23J, Model 1908, 16S, heavy 14K gold OF original Waltham case, gold cuvette with elaborate signature ring bearing matching mvt s#, case lids also marked with matching mvt s#, "Waltham Premier Maximus" marked white enamel quadruple-sunk dial, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, three visible diamond endstones, jeweled barrel, raised gold jewel settings with large gold plate caps for fourth wheel and escape wheel, circular pattern nickel damascene, s#17000082 with matching serial number within case and on cuvette. Gross weight of assembled watch 59.6 dwt (92.7 g). An attractive original first run example of Waltham's flagship watch, production of the Premier Maximus began at serial number 17000000 making this example the 83rd made by serial number. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, good winding indicator function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, few small scratches at edge of barrel bridge adjacent balance cock, some typical mild micro-fine scratches elsewhere, some specks of oxide to regulator and central hub of larger winding wheel; excellent dial with faint hl within right side of indicator register, few extremely minuscule nicks to rim of central circular indicator-register sink, minuscule surface nick at center just left of hands; near mint hands; case shows hardly any wear, mild dent on band near 7 with few adjacent small dings or nicks, mild ding on band near 5, indentation mark from larger winding wheel inside cuvette; tight bow, crown shows very little wear; good glass crystal.
